Did an interesting wedding yesterday in Piccadilly at the Royal Automobile Club. The groom was English/French and the bride from Russia. During the speeches the groom thanked people for managing to make it to London despite all the travel problems presented by the Ash clouds and no flights. Guests had travelled from Malaysia, Moscow, USA and many parts of Europe.
They had a Russian wedding planner who certainly presented some challanges! She had prepared lots of music clips which were to be played at various stages during the night and had them on her laptop. The problem with this was that everytime I managed to start building an atmosphere on the dancefloor, I had to stop which made it quite difficult.
What I hadn’t been pre-warned though was that there was to be a series of tracks played for the throwing of the bouquet and garter removal. One piece of music for the single girls coming onto the dancefloor, then another piece of music as they prepared to catch the bouquet, then another piece of music for when the bouquet was actually thrown, another track for when it was caught!… this then continued as the guys were brought onto the floor for the garter removal which required one track, as the groom bent down to start removing the garter another track to be played, and then another track for when the garter was removed. Finally another track for when the groom stood up with the garter in his hand! This certainly wasn’t easy to keep up with to say the least!
The event went well though and the bride and groom were very happy and somehow I managed to keep the dancefloor full almost all night.
On Sunday I attended the National Association of DJs AGM & Tradeshow in Gloucester to have a natter with many DJs I know from various parts of the UK and discuss all things DJ related.
